Polar Analytics vs Tutti: Is It Right for a Solo Shopify Founder?

Polar Analytics is a real BI tool for $5M+ GMV brands with a data analyst on staff. Here's an honest look at why 'alternative' is the wrong frame for a solo founder — and what to use instead.

Written by us, about a competitor. Every row below is a fact we can point at — their pricing page, their docs — as checked on August 20, 2026. No row is an opinion dressed as a spec.

Who Polar Analytics is actually built for

Polar Analytics describes itself as a modern BI tool for ecommerce — hundreds of connectors, a SQL editor, and ERP/NetSuite integration built in. That's not marketing gloss; it's an accurate description, and it tells you who the product is for: a brand with a data-literate operator or a hired analyst, not a solo founder checking numbers between orders. Polar's own alternative-comparison content pitches itself at $10M+ GMV brands running custom metrics across multiple stores — the opposite end of the market from a $20-50k/month single-operator store.

What it costs

Polar's Core plan starts around $720-750/month for brands under $5M in GMV, and scales up to roughly $7,970/month at the $75-100M GMV range, with custom pricing above $20M/year in GMV. Billing is metered by Monthly Tracked Orders (MTO) — a proxy for how much data volume the platform is processing for you, a different mechanic than either Triple Whale's GMV slider or Northbeam's ad-spend tiers, but the same underlying pattern: price scales with the size of business Polar assumes you already are.

Why "alternative" is the wrong frame for a solo founder

Most searches for "Polar Analytics alternative" assume Polar and the alternative are competing for the same buyer. Here, that's not really true. Polar was never built for a $20-50k/month store — not because it's a bad product, but because a BI tool with a SQL editor and ERP integration solves a different problem than "which sale came from which ad, and how sure am I." Calling Tutti a cheaper Polar undersells both products; the honest framing is that they're sized for different businesses.

What a solo founder actually needs instead

The underlying question is usually the same one Polar's own customers are asking — "which channel actually drove this sale" — just without the team, the SQL access, or the multi-store rollups to go get the answer. Tutti answers that directly: for every order, it works through the strongest evidence available (a real ad click, your store's own first-party session record, a matching session pattern, or an honest "can't tell") and shows you both the answer and the confidence behind it, with no query to write.

The honest read

Honest caveat: when you'll actually outgrow Tutti

If you get to the point where you're running multiple stores, need to join attribution data with inventory or fulfillment data in a warehouse, or you've hired someone whose job is specifically to build custom reporting, that's the point where a tool like Polar starts to earn its price. That's a real, specific bar — roughly $5M+ GMV, multiple stores, or a hired analyst — not "once you're doing well." Most of Tutti's ICP won't hit that bar for a long time, if ever, and that's fine — it isn't the business Tutti or this article is trying to talk you into building.

For the two comparisons this reader is more likely to actually be choosing between, see Triple Whale alternative — the other "not quite built for you" story, for a different reason — or the real tool stack a one-person $30k/month Shopify brand actually runs.
